Description
Free Writing / Editing Checklist for Literacy
Finished writing? Use this checklist to make sure you have included everything.
Many children are reluctant to check their work once they have finished writing. For them, they have completed the task and want to write no more!
However, part of improving writing skills is being able to read through your work and check for errors. Editing work can improve the quality of the work. Upon reading completed work, children should be encouraged to make improvements to the sentence structure, vocabulary used and spellings to name a few.
This checklist will help children identify areas of writing they need to check and improve. Upon regular use, it will become habit and children will be able to modify work independently. This checklist can also be used in the classroom for self-assessment purpose.
The writing checklist encourages children to improve on:
- spelling
- grammar
- sentence structure
- use of co-ordinating, subordinating conjunctions
- speech
- paragraphs
- use of modifiers, adjectives, noun phrases, relative clause etc
