KS2 long multiplication worksheet that uses the grid method to multiply two-digit numbers by two-digit numbers.
A worked example shows 75 times 26, partitioned into 70 and 5 across the top and 20 and 6 down the side, with the four products of 1400, 100, 420 and 30 added to 1950, alongside an approximate answer of 70 times 30 to check the order of magnitude. Children then work through ten grid multiplications including 34 times 21, 42 times 27, 62 times 34, 51 times 46, 63 times 27, 54 times 37, 69 times 43, 72 times 45, 84 times 73 and 92 times 15. Each question prompts the child to write an approximate answer first, which catches calculation errors.
