KS2 grammar worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children extend a simple noun phrase with extra detail, using a fun scenario about missing toys.

A short story sets the task: Mum has tidied your room but now some of your favourite toys have gone missing, and you need to describe them clearly to help find them. Children read seven simple noun phrases (a wooden train, a battery powered robot, two walkie talkies, a special football, a plastic wheelbarrow, a plastic drum and a fluffy teddy) and draw a line to match each one to the right extra information (with lots of carriages, for making music, used for talking to friends, with the long handle, that flashes and beeps, that I sleep with and covered in mud). To finish, they copy each completed expanded noun phrase into a single list to give to Mum.
