KS2 grammar worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children spot adjective modifiers in a sentence and add their own.

A short rule explains that a modifier is a word or phrase that gives more detail about another word, and that adjectives are the most common modifiers used to describe nouns. A worked pair shows “multi-coloured kite” alongside “She was happy”. In task one, children underline the modifier in five sentences about a mischievous puppy, a cosy blanket, a missed bus, a new jacket and a long day at work. In task two, they fill in modifiers to complete five sentence frames. A challenge asks them to rewrite three linked simple sentences using as many modifiers as possible.

Useful for KS2 SATs revision, classroom intervention or homework on expanded noun phrases. See related work in our grammar worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
