KS2 multiplication worksheet that teaches Year 3 and Year 4 children to multiply two-digit numbers by partitioning.
A worked example shows 27 times 3 partitioned as 20 times 3 plus 7 times 3, which gives 60 plus 21 and a total of 81, with a quick-multiply tip for the 20 times 3 step that starts with 2 times 3 then adds the zero back. Children then complete ten partitioned multiplication sums, including 25 times 2, 32 times 5, 29 times 4, 16 times 3, 41 times 4, 39 times 2, 62 times 5, 31 times 12, 86 times 3 and 54 times 12. The first four are scaffolded with the partition brackets ready for the child to fill in, and the rest are set out without scaffolding.
Useful for homework, classroom intervention or revision before children move on to the grid method. More multiplication work sits in the multiplication worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
