KS1 subtraction worksheet that helps Year 1 and Year 2 children subtract 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 from two-digit numbers, using a printed 100 square for support.
A printed 100 square sits at the top of the page so children can colour in their starting number, then count back in 10s to find the answer. A worked example shows 74 minus 20 equals 54. Children then complete fourteen more subtraction sums such as 72 minus 20, 86 minus 20, 95 minus 20, 49 minus 30, 99 minus 40 and 62 minus 50. To finish, they write three sums of their own and reflect on what they notice about the digits when they subtract a multiple of 10.
