KS2 place value worksheet that helps Year 3 children spot the biggest and smallest three-digit numbers they can make from a given set of digits.

A worked example uses the digits 3, 1 and 4 to show that the biggest number is 431 and the smallest is 134, with the digits arranged in a hundreds, tens and units chart. Children then work through eight problems, each giving three digits to arrange into the biggest and smallest possible HTU number. The repetition builds the place-value habit of putting the largest digit in the highest column when making the biggest number, and the smallest digit in the highest column when making the smallest.

Useful for KS2 SATs revision, classroom intervention or homework. More number work sits in the number worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
