KS1 addition and subtraction worksheet that builds Year 1 children’s understanding of fact families using numbers under 10.
Children look at five pictures of objects split across two parts of a rectangle, count how many are in each part and use those counts to write both an addition sum and the matching take away sum. The first example, 4 plus 3 equals 7 and 7 minus 4 equals 3, is modelled to show the link. The remaining problems build totals of 8, 6, 8 and a free choice, so children practise spotting the inverse relationship between adding and taking away.
Useful for early arithmetic, parent-led practice at home or small group intervention. More addition and subtraction work sits in the addition worksheets for KS1 ages 5 to 7. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
