KS2 addition worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children add three-digit numbers using the formal column method with carrying.
A worked example shows 469 plus 277 equals 746, with carrying explained step by step: 9 plus 7 makes 16, so 6 goes in the units column and 1 is carried to the tens column; 6 plus 7 plus the carried 1 makes 14, so 4 goes in the tens column and 1 is carried to the hundreds column; 4 plus 2 plus the carried 1 makes 7 in the hundreds column. Children then complete twelve numbered HTU addition sums of their own, practising the carrying step on each.
Useful for KS2 SATs revision or homework on column addition. See related work in our addition worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
