EYFS writing worksheet that introduces Reception children to sentence structure through the playful theme of silly sentences.
Sometimes called crazy sentences in classrooms, the activity teaches children that every sentence needs a beginning, a middle and an end. Children cut out three sets of cards: six beginnings (The sheep, The rocket, Dad, A frog, A bird and A girl), six middles (played, hopped, sat, ran, flew and sang) and six endings (in the field, in the chair, in the bedroom, into space, in the tree and into the pond). They pick one from each set, stick the three cards in order and copy the finished sentence onto the lines below. The silly element lets children pair unlikely combinations like a rocket that hopped into the pond, which keeps the activity playful while reinforcing that every sentence needs all three parts.
