Introduce the chunking method for division at KS2 with a worksheet aimed at Year 4 and Year 5 children who are moving on from short division.

A worked example shows 96 divided by 3 broken down into chunks of ten threes and one chunk of two threes, with the partial answers added up to give 32. A second worked example shows 98 divided by 6 with a remainder of 2. Children then complete twelve division problems including 65 divided by 5, 72 divided by 3, 52 divided by 4, 75 divided by 5, 46 divided by 2, 78 divided by 6, 50 divided by 3, 71 divided by 4, 65 divided by 2, 89 divided by 5, 91 divided by 3 and 97 divided by 4. The first two questions are partially started to model the method.
