KS2 grammar and punctuation worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children write what a character is saying in two ways: inside a speech bubble and inside speech marks.

The page shows four character pairs (a lion and a cheetah, a T.Rex and a Stegosaurus, two dolphins and a hen with her chicks). For each picture, children imagine what the character is saying, write the words inside the printed speech bubble, then rewrite the same words inside speech marks underneath. Writing the same words in both formats highlights that speech marks are simply the written equivalent of the bubble.

Useful for KS2 SATs revision, classroom intervention or homework on punctuating speech. More punctuation work sits in our spelling and punctuation worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
