KS1 phonics worksheet that helps Year 1 and Year 2 children blend consonant clusters with familiar word endings to make new words.
Children look at seven beginning clusters (fr, gr, bl, pl, sp, sw and sm) and seven matching word endings (uit, een, anket, ug, oon, ing and all) to build seven complete words: fruit, green, blanket, plug, spoon, swing and small. They say each beginning and ending out loud, say the whole word, write it in the space and draw a small picture to show its meaning. A closing prompt asks them to think of more words that begin with the same clusters.
Useful for KS1 phonics revision, classroom intervention or homework after a Phase 4 blending lesson. See related work in our phonics worksheets for KS1 ages 5 to 7. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
