A worked example shows 387 divided by 5: subtract 350 (70 times 5) from 387, then subtract 35 (7 times 5) from the remaining 37, giving an answer of 77 remainder 2. Children then work through nine division sums of their own: 267 divided by 5, 234 divided by 3, 398 divided by 4, 403 divided by 6, 628 divided by 9, 536 divided by 7, 157 divided by 2, 613 divided by 8 and 322 divided by 4.
