KS2 grammar worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children rewrite ten short, simple sentences so they include more detail and a wider range of word types.
A short rule explains the four word types they can use (noun, verb, adjective and adverb) with examples, alongside but, because and and as quick connectives. A worked example turns “I like cakes” into “I love eating delicious cakes slowly, but I am only allowed them after I have finished my lunch.” Children then rewrite nine more starters, including “I went to the park”, “The girl went to the shop”, “The boy screamed”, “The dog barked”, “The wolf blew the house down” and “Jack got told off”.
Useful for KS2 SATs writing revision, classroom intervention or homework on sentence variety. See related work in our grammar worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
