KS2 division worksheet that teaches Year 5 and Year 6 children to divide decimal numbers using the short division method, with an estimate-first step.
A worked example shows 59.3 divided by 4 estimated as 60 divided by 4 equals 15, then worked exactly to 14.8 remainder 1 (or 14.825 in full decimals). A reminder tells children to keep the decimal points lined up. Children then complete twelve short division sums of their own with decimal dividends including 6.81, 32.16, 72.56, 25.7, 149.63, 9.82, 208.16, 67.5, 5.7, 29.23, 40.8 and 657.2. Each task asks for an estimate first, then the worked answer. Answers can be rounded, written with a remainder or written as a decimal.
