KS1 grammar worksheet that helps Year 1 and Year 2 children turn present-tense verbs into the past tense by adding ed.
A short rule explains that verbs are doing words and that the past tense often takes ed at the end. A worked example shows play becoming played in “The boy played with his jigsaw”. Children then add ed to eight verbs (look, walk, open, kick, play, call, talk and turn), then use the new past-tense words to complete five sentences about a footballer, a little girl with a present, a trip to the shop, a teacher and a spaceship.
Useful for KS1 SATs revision, classroom intervention or homework on verb tense. Pair this with our spelling and punctuation worksheets for KS1 ages 5 to 7 for related work. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
