KS1 spelling worksheet that helps Year 1 and Year 2 children turn a verb into its ing form, using the three KS1 spelling rules.
A short rule explains that sometimes you just add ing, sometimes you drop the final e before adding ing, and sometimes you double the middle consonant first. Worked examples show push becoming pushing (just add), take becoming taking (drop the e) and run becoming running (double the n). Children then sort fifteen verb pairs into the three rule groups, including walk, move, jog, touch, drop, work, wake, grin, wipe, collect, like and knit alongside the worked examples. A closing prompt asks them to add more words to each list.
