KS2 spelling worksheet that helps Year 3 and Year 4 children use the prefixes bi, tri, auto, sub and tele to build and decode unfamiliar words.

The page sets out what each prefix means, with bi for two or twice, tri for three, auto for self, sub for under or below and tele for distant, alongside short example sentences with bicycle, tripod and telephone. Children then choose the right prefix to attach to ten word stems, including cycle, marine, vision, biography, angle, divide, lingual, scope, terrain and mobile. The second task asks them to pick five of the words they have made and write a definition for each, which forces them to think about meaning rather than spelling alone.

Useful for vocabulary lessons, spelling lists or homework. More spelling work sits in the spelling and punctuation worksheets for KS2 ages 7 to 9. Printable PDF, A4, downloads instantly after purchase.
