KS1 spelling worksheet that helps Year 1 and Year 2 children spot pairs of words that sound the same but are spelt differently and mean different things.
A worked example shows the pair pear and pair, used in two sentences to highlight the meaning difference. Children then read sixteen words arranged in two columns and join each pair that sounds the same (see/sea, by/buy, ate/eight, poor/pour, son/sun, board/bored, week/weak and wood/would). They then choose two pairs and write a sentence for each of the four words, putting their new knowledge into context.
